According to the EXIF on Flickr, it says I was 83 meters away. (90 yards)
So yeah, about 9 feet behind the head of the front deer, then things start to blur.

Assuming a distance of 100 yards, my quick calculations give a DOF of 6.4 yards, or about 3 yards behind the main deer. At 50 yrs, it is about 1/2 that.
So you are probably ok.

Nice. I'm a bit surprised that at 600 mm the deer in the back is a bit OOF.
