Life's Been Good

Olathe, KS

A thunderstorm popped up over Gardner Kansas providing Olathe with a dramatic sky so I jumped in the car I ran out to Heritage lake as fast as I could. 20 minutes after this shot another photographer out there and I were trying hard to capture lightning shots. The answer to your question is yes I did, 1 anyway.

Canvas or Metal or Paper...Costco is always a good choice, imo. Best Wishes, Traveller
PS I really love your waterfalls...soft and gentle. Did you print that?

Paul - when I said "soft", I didn't mean to imply out of focus, I meant "not hard". There are only a couple of small hard edges in this shot. I see the clouds and water as "soft"; ie, no sharp edges. Think gentle. Thus, like a painting; and hence, canvas.

Thanks for your input Jim, I always appreciate true candor when critiquing my images.
My first preference was going to be canvas and if I can get this tweaked enough I'll send it to test print. I admit most of my landscape shots are soft, don't know why either, it is what it is but this one maybe softer yet from noise reduction. Since it has a slight HDR effect applied to it I needed to use some strong NR to help clean it up. Paul

I like this shot as well - good composition and a beautiful sky.
Re printing medium - I have printed quite a few on metal; preferred supplier being Bay Photo.
However, this appears too "soft" for a metal print for me; it feels more like a painting to me. I'd be tempted to go with a canvas.

You did say you were polite..... I have not printed on metal yet, only paper and canvas. Should I choose metal I'd probably use Costco since they are offering affordable metal now and they certainly appear to have some extra pop to them. Generally when I print I first print a large test shot 11x14 or 16x20 to make sure it looks right at that size since Costco prints are very good and affordable then print on my final medium. In my office now I have a 20x30 canvas fall country scene with warm colors that this as another 20x30 warm might just accentuate the wall. Paul

this is wonderful indeed....I intend to print some metal...how has it worked for you if I might politely ask?

Those are very kind words Georgia, thank you! I do plan to put this on the wall in my home office, only questions I have to answer are how big and what printing process. Canvas, metal or standard print. Paul

Really a fantastic shot! The light is superb, as well as the diagonals.
And then there's the drama. A real winner! Frame it!
