Finishing Strong

This was the 2nd female runner to cross the finish line for the 5K memorial race for a Olathe police officer who died on the job. She's still going strong. She finished in 28 minutes which is slow but it was raining. The first 2 guys crossed in 21 minutes which is also slow compared to some other events I've volunteered at. I was goofing off shooting pictures in the police armored assault vehicle when the men crossed so I missed them.

Alastair I figured you'd be the one who would be able to associate with this. Funny because they started this 5 k race at 10:00 rather than the usual 8:00 so beer might have been an option by that time. Paul

I recognize that look. Good capture. The look in the eyes means "almost time for beer".

It proabbably can't be detected but I left 3% color in the image, it seemed to increase the detail in her top. I loved the emotion and focus she displayed running the final few yards to the finish line. Paul

I like this one. You caught her pain and effort well, along with the rain. B&W works very well for this shot.
