3rd - A Cold Autumn Night at the Gardens

Butchart Gardens, Vancouver Island, BC

Holiday lights were on display throughout the gardens.
We talked about going to see this display for over a decade.
Yesterday, we finally made the trip.
The weather was clear, 22 degrees F, with no wind.
The previous day's light snow was still in evidence.

Very colorful scene Charlie. I love the way the 5DIII handles low light.

Charlie - I guess I was looking only for a qualitative answer, like "a little". With my 60D at ISO 6400 I have to do a lot of NR.
Your shot looks really pretty clean.

I ran the image through "Neat Image" once. But I don’t know how to answer the question of “how much.” I didn't record the settings. When I get the chance, I will post “before and after” versions in Pending.

Since I didn’t know what to expect for lighting conditions, I started off by setting the camera on fully automatic. So it selected the ISO for me. Once I saw how the first shot came out, I left the setting there for the rest of the evening.

A question - how much noise reduction did you have to do at iso 12800 ?

A very fine capture of a lovely, colorful winter scene.

a wonderfully pastel pallet....but this is what is nice about the Challenges...they force us to get out and see things....this is an absolute positive good. Lovely shot. Best Wishes, Traveller
