4th - "Kirby's Gate"
by JimMSP

Minneapolis, MN

I took this at Target Field today, home of the Minnesota Twins. I was at Gate 34, which is the number that Kirby Puckett wore for the Minnesota Twins, and which he took into the Baseball Hall Of Fame. I stood beneath the number and shot upward.

From Wikipedia
Anthony Kirby Puckett (March 14, 1960 – March 6, 2006) was a professional Major League Baseball center fielder who spent his entire 12-year career playing for the Minnesota Twins (1984–1995). He is the Twins' all-time leader in career hits, runs, doubles, and total bases. At the time of his retirement, his .318 career batting average was the highest by any right-handed American League batter since Joe DiMaggio.

I was fortunate enough to watch him for his whole career here in Minnesota. He was also an outstanding defensive player and fun to watch play.

As far as Kirby's number being immortalized on a entrance gate, that means he was a big shot and he certainly was. The man could hit the cover off a baseball. They don't retire jersey numbers for average to above average players. Only the best of the best. He was inducted into the baseball hall of fame about 10 years ago and he also died maybe 5 years ago from a massive stroke if I remember correctly. Paul

I am completely ignorant as far as US baseball goes, and—accordingly—the names of teams or individual players don't mean anything to me; sorry! But I do like this image (as a sort of «abstract number») a lot, Jim: well seen and well done! ~ db.

K,
Thanks. I had played with it a bit. It is more an issue of the actual panel.
The best result actually takes it out of the frame.

Jim, very interesting abstract picture and I like the colors. May be I would use Transform tool to make the top line parallel to the frame.
