Second - International Space Station by GeraldH

The line running straight across the image is the trail of the ISS, passing almost directly above me.

Unfortunately, conditions for star trail shots are not ideal in my backyard. There is too much light polloution from the nearby city. Perhaps some of you can do a much better job before the end of the challenge.

Thank you to all for your comments. - Traveller, I do not think that long time exposures of the nightly sky are a danger for the sensor. We must take into account that the light from each an every star is not hitting the same pixel all the time but is moving across the sensor. This is quite different from taking a long time exposure of the sun, which could damage the sensor in less than 45 minutes, I think.

One of my favorites here. Very nicely done, and with such a great composition.

Well done Gerald, nice shot, may be I'd try with a shorter exposure to get the sky darker

Pretty good result from conditions that are "not ideal". Well done. The line from the ISS really enhances the image. Regards, Michael

BTW, I just did the math, this would be then a 45.2833 minute exposure? I'd be afraid of burning up my sensor in the camera...seriously. This is no problem for you?

Best Wishes, Traveller

That is an excellent job of polar alignment.
