Snail thought to himself, when there is only one obvious subject, does placing it on a third add anything?

For me, this is the picture in the gallery. But on the small red spots—or rather blemishes, IMO—I do agree with K: I'd have them deleted. — db.

Thanks for the comments all. Much appreciated. I'll leave the contrast because I quite like the richness of the snail colours. I thought a lot about removing the red spot from the door, but decided it was probably adding something to the image, but not sure what (perhaps breaks the sterility of the door). Regards, -Najinsky

Great capture. Simplicity is often the best. Perhaps a bit more contrast, perhaps not. There is currently a nice flow to my eye. More contrast might remove this flow. Jim

Thanks Traveller. The snail was crawling along the top frame of a door. I just shot it like this giving some room to crop to play with the specific placement on the third. I over-exposed a little to allow the snail details to be raised from the shadows, but avoiding blowing the sky (the OM-D has pretty good dynamic range, especially for a fairly small sensor) and then balanced the exposure in post processing. I added the border with an Aperture plug-in called Border-F/X. Looking at it now, I think I may have raised the shadows a little too far, reducing the contrast a little too much. I'll play later when the light is better, too bright at the moment. Regards, -Najinsky
