Thank you, Shu and Seethelight. Seethelight, yes, cropping the lower part would also give a nice result, this would support the impression as if the "flying saucer" is flying out of the screen. -Gerald

wow this is great! i happened to crop the image with my browser window and thought it was worth mentioning as an alternative crop: crop about 1/7 of the image height off at the bottom. either way, this is a great shot!

Great image Gerald. The flash works really well here to freeze the subject and you managed to construct a great swirl too. Excellent job! -Najinsky

Traveller, Sharon and Peter, thank you for your friendly comments. Peter, actually I thought my experiments would come out differently so I entered them in exhibition, hoping to be able to get some result which would be exactly what I wanted. But you are right, I shall move them to eligible; should I really come up with more than three entries, I can still move some of them to exhibition.

Gerald, I noticed that both your exhibition images were shot within the challenge period.

I would love to see them in Eligible, unless you're placing them here for a reason (are your real favorites yet to come?). Note: Eligible is open to images taken with any camera for this challenge, so the Nikon image is eligible for Eligible.

I will move them if you'd like. I think the comments may stay with the images that way, rather than re-posting. But only if that's what you want to do.

An angel on a flying saucer - what fun! No really, Gerald, very creative take on the topic. I like it! ~Sharon

Yes Gerald, I think I was commenting as you were updating. Thanks for the description! Excellent execution, and a gorgeous image!

Interesting that here, and with almost all the entries in either gallery, there is sense of movement. That was my backup challenge, if this one had been unpopular.

Thank you for your comment, Peter. You were faster than I updated the image description.
This technique would work best with a subject (which does not get any light other than from the flash) in front of a brighter background at rather open aperture. I had no chance to build a setup like this today but I found this object in my garden in the evening. -Gerald

Beautiful image Gerald! Would love to know how you did this. Single exposure? Tripod for spinning, or hand held?
