OH, I am so jealous. I wish I had more chance to explore that amazing state. We drove cross country twice with our kids, from NJ to BC and back, but only scratched the surface.
Thanks, Peter and Olaf! No, that is sand not snow, the "foothills" are actually the Great Sand Dune National Park in back of beyond Colorado. A fabulous place with at least one dune hitting 750 feet and no ocean nearby! ~Sharon

Yes, wonderful sense of scale Sharon. Wish we had that in NJ! I also like the contrasting bands of vegetation, snow, and blue mountains. (That is snow in the foothills, isn't it?)
