not my "beloved ed," but my aperture club friend "tom." the b/g is an art wall in the lobby 0f the new britain museum of american art. i had some photograher friends stand in front of it because it is a great b/g. (sharon was not on this trip, however. besides, i think the ape painting was created just for her!! LOL) thanks for your comment! shu

Shu - Is this your beloved Ed? He looks like a very kind person.

How was the background constructed? I like the idea of introducing textures.

My first reaction is that the increasing lighter tones away from the subject compete with the subject, and the second thought is that "light" on the background should fall away from the (same) light source as is on the subject.
