Hey CameraShy09 - thanks for the information on the setup. I can't wait to try sometime ;)

As for your parenthetical query, simply insert the full URL to the _image_ in question and not the URL for the html page.

The set up is very straight forward. Length of black felt draped over the table top and hung from a rod. Glass table top placed on felt. Goblet filled with water placed on glass. I used an LED flashlight with 5 bulbs in the head. A set up shot is posted in pending:http://www.pbase.com/image/124942470 (wish I knew how to add the photo to the comments.) Room lights turned off. Manual exposure set to f10. I played with the shutter speeds. Shot in RAW, but must have had the white balance set to tungsten to get the deep blue color without any adjustments. Camera set to self-timer to give me time to push the shutter button and get over to the table. When the shutter opened, I held the flashlight by its wrist strap and started swinging it in a circle around the glass. Lots of trial and error involved. I got more complete spirals by holding the flashlight rather than swinging it (so the light would always point toward the camera) but the trails were not as smooth. - CameraShy09

What is that horizontal line cutting through about midway?

- Kelly (still wondering how I can try this ;)

Oh! This is way better! Fantastic!! And in my opinion perfectly on topic.

Please move this over to Eligible and tell more of how you did this.

...and if it's not on topic, let Nico decide ;)
