Clinging to a volcanic peak looking onto the Puys, the Mont Dore mountains and the Cézallier plateau,
Usson with it's black stone houses was once dominated by a castle in which Queen Margot was exiled for 19 years.
A path leads to the village’s basalt columns south of the Romanesque church of Saint Maurice and the queen’s chapel.
