Legend has it that the white rock marks the landing spot of a stone hurled across the Straits of Georgia by a
young Indian chief, a spot where he and his new bride would move to from Vancouver Island to make their home.
Their descendants subsequently became the Samiahmoo first nation, one of the Coast Salish peoples.
The rock weighs 486 tons, and is actually a glacial deposit from the coastal range.
