Aberdovey (in Welsh, Aberdyfi). On the day we visited, a fete organized by the RNLI (lifeboats)
was in full swing, including a rubber duck race! The little yellow things in the sea are rubber
ducks (bathtub toys, made popular in the 1970s by Jim Henson in the Muppets) – hundreds and hundreds
of them, each sponsored by someone as part of the fete, in a race carried by the tide.
