A popular holiday seaside resort – somewhat deserted on this dreary day. At low tide, a sandy beach
is revealed, with the remains of an ancient submerged forest, dating from around 1500 BC. At high
tide, all that is visible are the shingles and the tops of the groynes, barriers built to reduce
the effects of erosion.
