Aberaeron

Aberaeron – planned and built in 1805 by the Reverend Alban Gwynne, who spent his wife’s inheritance
dredging the Aeron estuary and creating the port. The town became a bustling port famous for its
shipbuilding, although it went into decline with the advent of the railways in 1911. Now a popular
tourist destination – the “Jewel of Cardigan Bay”.
