Dunguaire Castle, near Kinvarra, County Galway. Named after the 7th century King Guaire of
Connaught, whose court here was renowned as the haunt of bards and balladeers. The present
castle dates from the 16th century, and the banqueting hall is still used for “medieval banquets”
with Celtic harp music and recitals of Irish poetry.
