Construction of the Alhambra began in 1238, when the Nasrid dynasty was established
in Granada, though parts of the complex date from earlier.
There are several distinct sections in the Alhambra complex - the Alcazabar to the west,
the Nasrid Palaces and the Palace of Carlos V in the centre, and Generalife to the north.
This is a view of the Alcazabar.
