The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, built in 1328, was originally a palace-fortress
(the Arabic word 'al qasr' means 'the castle') and was occupied by Fernando II and Isabel
during their campaign to conquer Granada from the Moors. Later, it was used by the
Inquisition and then was a prison.
