Neil Smith Prairie National Wildlife Refuge is a special place about 30 miles east of Des Moines where the area has been brought back to what it might have been like a hundred years ago. There is a prairie area and a resident buffalo population. These guys have gotten quite used to crowds and are not at all shy.
