Bird Week Fraser Island Qld - photo montage by Cheryl Ridge

My birding and bird photography got a lovely kick start
when we decided to attend Bird Week at Kingfisher Bay Fraser Island Qld in 2006.

This montage I put together in the hotel room at the end
of our stay. We were met with a large projected version
as we attended the Galah dinner. I think many attendees
were surprised at the number of birds I managed to photograph
but I think my secret was - that I spent more time outdoors
than attending presentations ;-)

Fraser Island really is quite magical for the nature lover
and we had a wonderful time finding and photographing
various bird species. Birds in this montage include:
Brahminy Kite, Azure Kingfisher, Golden Whistler,
Lewins Honeyeater, Scarlet Honeyeater, Rainbow Bee-eater,
Caspian Tern, Buff Banded Rail, Red Backed Wren,
Rufous Fantail, White Cheeked Honeyeater,
Varied Triller and others.

Whilst most of the images in the montage are mine, I have to give
credit to Gerard for the little Scarlet (red) Honeyeater
and the Brahminy Kite in flight. Not bad for a novice!
