25 Motherhood

Melbourne, Australia

On my weekly walk I met an other group of lounging Eastern Grey Kangaroos.
Mother was feeding her baby Kangaroo, but would have an other baby in her pouch and probably pregnant again.

The female kangaroo is usually pregnant in permanence,
except on the day she gives birth; however,
she has the ability to freeze the development of an embryo
until the previous joey is able to leave the pouch.

Meike, this a wonderful capture and thank you for the information about these beautiful creatures. Isn't it amazing that she can freeze an embryo?
