10 Dense

Melbourne, Australia

Dense:
• having the component parts closely compacted together; crowded or compact: a dense forest; dense population.

HOUSING COMMISSION FLATS...who ever invented them?
High Rise flats were seen as a "quick-fix" to cure problems caused by crumbling and unsanitary 19th century dwellings.

I'm so spoiled by country living. Looks packed to me :-)

An excellent shot for dense...some of these high-rise developments are truly astounding and were meant to house thousands of people...one wonders if 'dense' should apply to the town planners and architects who built these tower blocks

Good choice for the word, but very outdated mode of building now. Nice shot.

This certainly is dense, compact living. I can't imagine what it would be like if fire broke out......

Excellent idea for dense, hard to imagine calling it home.

Dense living here, so European though, look at Paris, Berlin etc.! Great thinking! V.

One wonders how many suicides they might have been over the years living in
these faceless monoliths...but I guess the urge to better oneself would be
great for many, and at least there would be a bed & somewhere to cook a meal.

Definately something that needs to be updated. 50's style. And a good one for dense. Don't think I could live in one of those.

The 1950's brought the first of this style of housing to Melbourne when so many Europeans migrated to Australia after WW11. They were placed around the inner city, but I remember my parents thinking how awfully lonely it would be for those who came without families. We Australians had always been home owners on a 1/4 acre block, with a flower garden in the front for Mum & a vegie garden in the back for Dad. The Italian & Greek people worked hard & soon they were buying the family homes in the suburbs too...they were good days.

Looks like a "quick-fix" to create more problems to me. Good choice for dense.

So bland and generic and dense. You are right, a quick fix... but that's all. Nice idea and very true!
