8 Mystique

The mystique of the disappearance of Ludwig Leichhardt.

Ludwig Leichhardt (1813-1848) was a German explorer and scientist who came to Australia
in 1842 to study its rocks and wildlife.
In March 1848 Ludwig Leichhardt set out from the Condamine River to reach the Swan River.
He was last seen on April 3 1848 at McPherson's Station, Coogoon on the Darling Downs.
His disappearance after moving inland, although investigated by many, remains a mystery.
