It is Studley with an e. I looked the etymology of the word stud up and it stand for bef. 900; ME stude knob, post, OE studu post; c. MHG stud, ON stoth post.
The word stud has a lot of meanings for example an establishment, as a farm, in which horses are kept for breeding. Or a boss, knob, nailhead, or other protuberance projecting from a surface or part, esp. as an ornament.
I think Studley Park, which BTW is very beautiful Park is named after the Studley Royal Park in Ripon (UK).
