Dragonfly

I stopped on the side of the road to take this photo after seeing the red dragonfly sparkling
in the sun. That's when I remembered that my monopod was at home. I shot this with
my 75-300mm lens. It isn't in focus or properly exposed, I just like the contrasting colors.
I'll do better next time.

In the meantime, check out this incredible Dragonfly gallery!

Wow, is this real? So sharp!

I like the simple lines and background -- makes a very nice composition. A lot of my attempts at dragonflies seem to have busy ugly backgrounds.

You're right, the contrasting colors here are beautiufl! I don't think I've ever seen an orange dragonfly before. Regardless of in foucs or not, still a nice capture.

Aren't dragons fun? Did you see my post of the spotted skimmer dragon yesterday? Mine was handheld, too. By the time you get all set up with the tripod, they are gone! Keep up the good work. Beautiful color.

Those are beautiful lyrics, Jeanne! I'll have to listen to that song again.

As soon as I stopped the car he was off flying around, landing on the grasses for a brief second or two.

"And when the roses are half-bud soft flowers
And lovely as the king of flies has come
It was a fleeting visit, all too brief
In three short minutes, he had been and gone

He rested there upon an apple leaf
A gorgeous opal crown sat on his head
Although the garden is a lovely place
Was it worthy of so fine a guest

Oh...Oh...Oh...Oh...Dragonfly, dragonfly ..." ~ Fleetwood Mac :-)
