Dad and I headed up to the Geneseo Warbird Airshow this weekend. Saturday was the fly in and practice day, the airshow was on Saturday and Sunday. Because he wore an 11th Airborne hat, the unit with which he served in South Pacific from 1944 through 1946, he was recognized by The Liberty Jump Team. By the end of the day, we had been invited back to the hanger watch and help the team pack chutes, and were then asked if we would like to take a 1 hour flight aboard a Whiskey 7, a 70 year old C-47 which was used on D Day, and was the type of aircraft my dad jumped from in the South Pacific. We met so many amazing people, and he was treated so graciously by everyone we met. A special thanks for the Liberty Jump Team and the Return to Nomrandy organization who treated him so well and gave us both the ride of a lifetime.
