Would You Believe...

A fiddle once saved a man’s life? Several years ago, back in the hills of Tennessee, a revenue agent was nosing around and discovered a still. Before he could get out of harm’s way the owner and his 4 sons captured the agent. They were going to kill "the nasty revenuer" but the Revenuer's capture had interrupted a hot card game and they decided to take the agent back to the house with them and kill him later after the game.
They placed the man in a rocker by the fireplace and went back to their card playing keeping a wary eye on the man.
The agent glanced up and saw a fiddle on the mantle and asked if they minded if he played it.
They discussed it among themselves and decided they didn’t care as long as it didn’t interrupt their game.
So the agent lifted the fiddle to his chin and played several beautiful songs making the fiddle really sing.
The burley men were so taken with the music they decided that anybody that could play that great shouldn’t die, so they blindfolded the agent and led him out of their hills. (From a book of Strange FBI stories)
