This large lifesize bronze statue of the sea-god Poseiden, was found in the sea off Cape Artemision, Euboea.
The pre-classical sculpture was made about 460 BC and is a masterpiece of an unknown sculptor.
The bronze acquired its greenish patina due to its long stay in the sea.
Originally Poseiden was hurling a trident (symbol of the sea god) in his right hand.
