IMG_5138 Palazzo Vecchio at Night jpg

The Palazzo Vecchio was the seat of Florentine city government during the Renaissance.
It is now a museum, and well worth visiting to see the palatial rooms and especially the grand council "room of the 500".
This enormous room was to be frescoed on opposite walls by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci with battle scenes in the early 1500's.
Leonardo's fresco, done in a somewhat experimental medium, failed to be finished and Michelangelo's fresco was never begun.

A copy of Michelangelo's "David" can be seen next to the door on the right side of the palazzo.
The original of "David" is in the Academia in Florence.

This picture was a lucky grab shot with the full moon in the upper background.
