The Pinacoteca (picture gallery) in the Vatican Museum,is often overlooked by many tourists, and few tour groups seem to go there.
But it contains some very important works of art, including this tapestry in the same room with the Raphael designed tapestries
from the life of Christ that once hung on the lower walls of the Sistine Chapel.
In this image, several people seem to be discussing a tapestry copy of Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper"
which the artist painted in the cenacola of Sta. Maria della Grazie in Milan.
Raphael's magnificent painting of the "Transfiguration of Christ" is the star attraction in this large room (next image),
that is mostly dedicated to tapestries.
The Pinacoteca is a little off the regular tourist route,
but well worth the pleasure of seeing some paintings of monumental mportance,
including Caravaggio's "Entombment", and Leonardo da Vinci's "St.Jerome".
