Sta. Croce is one of many important churches in Florence. It is not only the site of many famous works of art, such as Giotto's
"Burial of St. Francis" in the Bardi Chapel, and Donatello's "Annunciation" on the South wall,
but also the burial place of many Florentine notables, such as Michelangelo and Galileo.
The interior of the nave has been undergoing massive restorations for several years.
The scaffolding for some of this work can be seen in this picture and in the next few images also.
