Metrosexual Muarian

A young man checks his hair in the mirror. "I love you" was an added bonus that I only noticed while I was processing this shot!

I agree Tim, sometimes we're lucky to capture things we never noticed that coincidentally give an image extra meaning. I too wonder if he wrote it. What baffles me more is who in their right mind would put their lives in danger by dangling on the outside wall to write that message?! Must be some lovesick fool?

And thanks Cecilia W for coming to this image too. We were just leaving town when I saw him and I shot him through the window of the car. It was incredible that this guy was combing his hair for all to see out there on his balcony and I couldn't resist. It was one of those "drive-by" images and I was so pleasantly surprised by the result, especially the graffiti which I couldn't even see during that fleeting moment from where I was! It was a hit or miss, so luckily this was a "hit"!

What a great shot, with the jeans as metaphor for a young man on the fly to some trysting spot or other! The wall's lovely, clear, ocean shallows blue, the frames around the door/windows, and the guy's absorption in his coiffure, the text on the wall -- all give this a sort of valentine feeling. What an eye you have, Cecilia!

So often those "added bonus"es make a picture sing. Although I think this one would even without the graffiti. I wonder if he wrote it himself.

It is a pleasure to see things in your images that you might not have noticed. If my comment encourages you take another look at the image and see it in a new context -- in this case, noting the sources of its energy -- it will be well worth the time we may spend together looking at this photograph The more we look, the more we see. And that is a mark of a truly substantive image, Celia.

Thanks Phil for highlighting to me the energy that is brought about by the shapes and the motion. I never saw it that way and I am thrilled to be learning something new from my viewers! Now that you mentioned it, I have also noticed that the bright colours (complimentary blue & orange) have also brought their energy into this image. All this exciting energy add to the feeling of his youthful pursuits. Thanks so much for sharing and helping me appreciate this image on an even deeper level!

What a great moment -- full of rhythms and incongruities. The graffiti adds context, and the flying jeans and raised arms, under the pointed arch windows, bring the tremendous energy to the scene.
