The brim is as rigid as plywood. I thought it would be good for boinking
some recruit in the forehead while I was trying to make a point and get
his attention (were I a Drill Instructor :) ). I voiced this thought
and was told that it is not permitted... oh Phooey..

I must add, though, that from the very impressive Graduation Ceremony,
the D.I.'s surely must have their own far more effective techniques.
