At 32,134 square kilometers (12,407 square miles), Vancouver Island is the largest island on the western side of the Americas. That's about the same size of Holland. Much of the island is untamed wilderness - home to cougar, wolves, bear, deer, elk and eagles. The surrounding sea is known for its whales, dolphins, otters, seals and salmon. Victoria (population 300,000) is the largest city on the island. Located in sub-Mediterranean zone, Victorians enjoy some of the most moderate weather in all of Canada -- boasting an average of 2,183 hours of sunshine yearly, and an eight-month frost-free season. Average annual rainfall is 26.2 inches (compared to over 50 inches in New York). The island is tucked against the mainland coast of British Columbia and the north shore of Washington State's Olympic Peninsula. There are 48 regional, provincial and federal parks in Greater Victoria, totaling more than 7,600 hectares (22,724 acres).

Your pictures are bittersweet for me. I moved to the USA to marry but lived in Victoria most of my life. My granny lived a block from Dallas Dr. so Beacon Hill, the breakwater and even downtown bring back fond memories. She passed on a two years ago and some of her ashes were spread on the ocean in front of the breakwater and Port Angeles. Bittersweet...I never got to go see her before she died. Now I can visit her in your pictures...Thank you.

Would you ever sell your work? Would love to have your photo´s hanging in my home here in Sweden. Have not been to Victoria since i was a kid. So much more beautiful then I remember.

Great Pictures! They make me desire another trip to Victoria. Victoria BC inspired me to name my daughter Victoria. In 1997 I visited a friend who lived there. Now I am stuck in Illinois of all places. Again thank you for sharing the photos!
