Montréal, Canada

SP

America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream.
The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence.
The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to
a control system set up by the non-dreamers.

- William S. Burroughs

It reminds me of The man that owned the Buick 8 in "From a Buick 8" by Stephen King.

love your hat ;-))

The sign of Craig Persel! Great - the hat on the book cover and the "real" Persel hat! And yes - a great element in this comp is the diagonal sharing the picture in two parts. Outstanding comp and perfect done in beautiful b+w tones!
Karen Stuebing28-Jan-2006 12:50
I feel like hiding after reading that quote too. :) Great SP and b/w. Speaks volumes.
Luc VN28-Jan-2006 10:21
Good use of B&W, nice light and compo.
Guest 28-Jan-2006 09:16
Excellent!;)

The photo makes me laughing, the subtitle turn me to thinking but the hat on the cover of the book brings me back to smiling (thanks god).

Terrific SP!
Gayle P. Clement28-Jan-2006 04:55
The composition is awesome. I love the diagonal. GMV
Chris28-Jan-2006 04:16
Ah, your inspiration. Man, you got that diagonal perfectly from corner to corner, too.
jude28-Jan-2006 03:46
LOL! I had no idea!
Interesting what we all read.. you look so mysterious
Guest 28-Jan-2006 03:21
[unbaits breath] - obviously you pulled it off ;0) This is very Persel - thematically clever and graphically spot-on. Love the way the diagonal behind you bisects the frame. Vote.

Dreamers are dangerous: they can make things change... Martin Luther King had a dream.
Great SP!

Nice SP!
Guest 28-Jan-2006 01:40
I do see a great gallery evolving!
Guest 28-Jan-2006 01:25
LOL! Bravo. Great interpretation of this idea.
This series of SP with books is really good, so far!
I hope others do it too ;-)
Guest 28-Jan-2006 01:04
great shot Craig, is that you on the cover, a similar hat, aH I see you have purchased the D50, wise choice, dont keep the body open for long if changing lenses and whatever you do dont touch the mirror or sensor. I have afew annoying blobs on mine which are starting to show on the pics, I wish someone had told me this.
Guest 28-Jan-2006 00:49
Love it. Your self portrait series is creative, evoking and fun! Like the square crop on this btw - v nice choice.
George Christakos28-Jan-2006 00:30

'The answer to any question will be revealed when you stop asking questions'. Also Bill. His departure is another notch on the pounding gavel of non-dreamers. Nice photo:)
