I know you have to look carefully to see the two birds, but that was the setting as I saw it. They were getting ready to attack one another. Actually, one attacked and the other defended itself. I was photographing one of these yellowlegs when it flew back and began attacking another bird! The squabble went on for several minutes. Since they are in migration mode around here, I'm not sure why there was such hostility. It is the wrong time of year for it to be sexual, and why would it be territorial for the feeding area when it's only a stopover on their part. I watched this happen several times. I'll post some other images of their encounter. Anyone know why they would behaving this way?
