This was our target bird for this trip to Khao Yai National Park. The first evening it didn't show up but the next morning it did. We went down to the hides at first light (at 7am) and just half a minute after I got into the hide the bird showed up. It's such a charismatic bird, shy difficult to photograph and rare. It's also a big bird and it wasn't easy to figure out where to put the hide. My wife had to move back a long way to frame it. It came to the scene every 10 minutes for abut one hour and then the sun started the shine down and we didn't see it more that morning.
Here the bird came closer than I expected and I couldn't frame it. It actually came just 2-3 meters from my hide and I scared it away with the mirror sound from the camera. I really wish they could make quiet cameras!
