Although this engine isn't quite ready for the market yet, it is under development and you are looking at the prototype built by experienced builder Otis Baker. I have been in touch with Bruce Satra regarding this engine, as the "basis" for it is the M-5 Morton.
The original concept was drawn up by Bruce Satra and then it was passed on to John Bodmer, well experienced with CAD. The CAD drawings then went to Bob Roach who tweaked the actual drawings with real dimensions. Otis Baker has made the prototype engine and anticipates installing it in a model Pietenpol for its first actual flight. YES, Otis is going to fly this beautiful engine!!
Bruce passes along some comments about the M-7
"The beauty of the M-7 is that it has no crankcase casting, that saves big bucks. Along with this ground breaking initiative, no master rod castings and no gear case castings. The engine does use M-5 pistons, valves, valve cages, spark plugs and glow plugs.
The engine is addicted to meth fuels so no distributor is needed or wanted or tolerated.
More money saved. I am working on these problems.
The engine is a trifle more than half an inch larger in diameter than the M-5, and winds up being about 6 inches in diameter.
With 2 more cylinders than an M-5, the M-7 should be nearly half again more powerful useing those same cylinders. Odie flies the super dooper M-5 we have now and it turns 7000 plus and has roller tappets and beefed up innards, so the M-7 should do well for itself."
