Selasphorus rufus
A few friends and I were in Strawberry Fields (near W73 St) when this Rufous Hummingbird caught our eye. Rufous Hummingbirds breed in the NW, as far north as southern Alaska, and farther north than any other hummingbird species in the world. This is the western stray most likely to be seen in the east, and local birders were happy when it called Central Park home for two weeks in December 2004.
