Hawk with a mouthful

This was a shocking scene to come home to as I walked into the backyard.
This hawk was having dinner 10 feet away from me on our backyard fence.
It was so close that I could clearly hear the sound of it ripping at its prey.

Dinner was a bird from all the feathers around it.

I could hear it screeching during the previous evenings.

Pretty awesome scene in suburban Silicon Valley.

They are beautiful predators no doubt. And this is an excellent capture. I'm glad you spared us the full meal. :) I've seen them do that too. I figure it's the weak who get caught.
