Quiet ride home on the metro. Sorry I didn't get any photos of the wreck earlier in the week.
Tonight on the way to choir rehearsal I noticed that the security checkpoints two blocks away from the Capitol were gone. They had been up since just after the Democratic Convention after the discovery of four year old terrorist planning documents showed that NY, NJ and Washington, DC had been targetted way back then. (Duh, that was obvious after 9/11/01.) Anyway, now that Bush is safely back in the White House the orange alert we've been living under here has been reduced to the usual yellow and we don't have krieg lights glaring into homes on Second St., NE behind the Supreme Court. No more police stops and random vehicle searches. Can't say I felt safer when they were going through those motions. I wasn't willing to risk photographing the checkpoints. That was a known no-no.
