Citronella 4-26-24

Scented Citronella geranium is a type of scented geranium with soft green leaves that have a citrus fragrance. It is an evergreen, tender perennial (in warmer climates) that grows upright and bushy. The leaves are deeply cut, crinkled and serrated, and sometimes have thin and lace-like lobes.

Living where it gets very cold in Winter, I grow mine as a potted plant and bring it inside between late September and early May.

The citronella flower is small and white to lavender. Its 5-petal shape is similar to other pelargonium blooms, with burgundy veins decorating the upper two petals. These blooms generally appear in spring and early summer. I love having flowers indoors before it's warm enough for flowers outdoors. Although my Citronella plant can grow a little leggy indoors without full sun, it still produces interesting flowers indoors to delight the senses.
