New to me in Fall 2022, I think this bulb will be destroyed after it has finished blooming.
It’s very pretty. However, the plant is also stunted with red streaks on the leaves; as have been all 6 of the Amaryllis bulbs that I purchased from this vendor. I suspect they all came to me with Red Scorch Disease or Southern Blight: https://gardenerspath.com/how-to/disease-and-pests/southern-blight-amaryllis/
I’ve already thrown 3 out as soon as the bulb stalks turned bright red and just collapsed before forming flowers. I’ve never experienced this with amaryllis bulbs before… I now plan to sterilize the pots that they were in and use the pots for annuals on my Summer deck. Usually, I keep my amaryllis and grow them again year after year. But I'll be happy when all 6 of these "sick ones" are out of the house. I don't want to risk the rest of my collection.
In a future year, I may try to grow this variety again. It really is quite an attractive flower and a bit unique. However, I won't be buying my bulbs from the same source as the one flowering above. Six out of 6 "sick" bulbs (from that vendor) is a bit much for just happenstance. How disappointing.
But this plant did at least provide me a couple of nice photos.
Originally, I was just going to throw it out without photographing... I'm now glad I didn't.
