The ads announcing that the Clydesdales (plural horses) & "Hitch" was coming to town suggested that the event would feature a full team of a dozen horses, red wagon, and Dalmation mascot. Instead, there was just one horse for a long line of people to pet; plus another spare horse in the trailer that the public never got near. There was no sign of a wagon nor dog nor "hitch" as the event was called.
Nevertheless, there was a very large crowd - with never ending lines - that came out to see the Clydesdales;
that ended up being just the lone horse seen above.
Since food vendors and sales booths were set up to entertain those waiting their turn, I guess it wouldn't have been a bad experience for those who only wanted a day out to pet a single horse. Unfortunately, it was also pouring rain!!! Until they reached the store portico, people stood out in the downpour with umbrellas. This crowd was mainly moms with pre school age children; plus elderly couples. What a very interesting mix of attendees when you consider Budweiser is beer.
I did a "drive by" to get this shot. I wasn't about to stand in a long line - in the pouring rain - just to pet a horse. Even if it hadn't been raining, I wouldn't have stood in a line for just that. Nevertheless, I did want to get "some photo" of the event. Stopping, an open window and a little zoom got me what I wanted; considering what was being offered. I've photographed the Bud Clydesdales at their home in St Louis. How disappointing that our city didn't get the real "Hitch" event that can been seen on YouTube in other cities. That is something that I have never had an opportunity to see in real life. Maybe someday.
