The End 2018

of the outdoors growing season

Temperatures last week dropped to an all time record cold of just 26 degrees. It even snowed a little. We went from Summer to Winter in just a matter of just hours. This has been followed by another 2 nights of record cold; plus 3 more days & nights of continuing "below normal" temperatures.
The premature cold has killed off all flowers growing outside.

In a frantic rush, we tried to bring most of my deck flowers into the Solar Room to save them from freezing to death. However, I'm not sure this lovely hibiscus "Painted Lady" will survive. She was the last plant to be brought in & now seems to be having some serious problems.

****************

2022 NOTE: "Painted Lady" not only survived, but she is still going strong 4 years later.

Sorry to hear about your plants suffering Liz. it would be a shame to loose a bloom as glorious as this Painted Lady.
