"Red" Moon: Actual Color 2015

The color comes from SMOKE in the atmosphere from the wild fires in Alaska.

I know I should have taken the time to drag out the tripod and 600mm prime lens for this shot, but I was too lazy tonight. Instead, I went with handholding the Bridge Camera. I'm sure IQ would have been improved with better equipment. Still, in general, I'm surprised to get this good of quality by hand holding a fixed lens super zoom camera that only shoots JPG.
The P900 inspires one to be lazy.

Great shot with the P900. Hand-holding is an adventure with that magnification, but how many cameras would even give you the opportunity? V

This so beautifully shot. Never seen a red moon before. Hard to believe it was not done with your pro camera.

Amazing what the smoke did to the reflected light from the sun.

a fine full moon; maybe the smoke is a good filter
