Rain in Alesund

This may have been the day that started the demise to my beloved FZ35.
After I took this shot, the wind picked up and the rain came down totally horizontally. An Alesund native turned to me and said how lucky I was because not everyone gets to experience the "sideways rain." Having difficulty in just standing, I backed (or more correctly was blown) away from the overlook. So I missed any shot of the truly horizonal rain.. My camera was not designed to shoot in this kind of weather.

Supposedly Alesund is a very beautiful city on a clear day. However, that definitely was not a clear day. When it rains in Norway, it REALLY rains!

There is a very appealing graphic quality to this image. The rain adds great texture without obscuring the view. Striking! V.

when it becomes a poster or a postcard, it is the sort where you have to look quite closely to see if its photograph or painting...hopefully your intention

It's like a painting. Certainly a wall-hanger. Amazing.

What a marvelous image! I love this, Liz! It's too bad if it caused the downfall of your camera, but it is one of those images that would be worth almost anything to get! V

Awesome image! One of a kind, worth some trouble to get. But to lose a camera is a big loss too. V

This is an amazing capture Liz! The rain, the colorful buildings, the composition. Love it! V
I know how you feel about shooting during rainy weather..... I recently purchased a camera "rain coat" to protect my beloved DSLR because I lost a day of shooting in Budapest due to torrential rains....
