Wild Sunflowers on a Windy Day

My most recent image...I took this late in August 2004 as I was attempting to photograph sunflowers near my home, at Sunset Crater National Monument. The wind was showing no signs of diminishing, so I decided to give up on keeping the flowers sharp, and use their motion as an integral part of the image. After several attemps, this one was the best. My wife prefers the color image - I like the black and white much better...as the motion is emphasized by form, and not distracted by color.

Great! Lots of action in a picture that would be so quiet.

It is hard to tell which is a cloud and which is a petal but the movement and contrast is the name of the 'game'. really special.
