Wave2_3404.jpg

Coyote Buttes

This image is one of my personal favorites of the trip. I simply love the rich 'large format' feel it conveys - even though it was taken with 'only' a Canon G2. At the time this image was taken, I was in that period of mid-day light when I found myself waiting for the best light at the 'second Wave' - having already captured what I wanted to at the primary Wave location. As I was hiking above and 'behind' the Wave, I came across a little alcove which was rich in indirect, warm light. If you've seen many of my photographs, you'll know that I just cannot resist the quality of reflected light in the Southwest, and I was struck by this little location. An intense wind storm had blown through the area a couple days before, creating great drifts of sand in areas which normally are barren rock, creating a myriad of wonderful sand creations (another of which is featured in this gallery). Originally, this image was part of a larger panorama I had constructed of this scene, which extended about 7 feet across. But as I cropped more and more, I liked what I saw more and more, and ended up with this remaining piece. I got up and close to the sand for this one, using my WC-58 wide angle adapter on the G2 for better perspective. Only minor contrast/saturation enhancement in Photoshop.

Yes Bryan, I agree with you
The mood, the composition and the colors are great.
Compliments from a "professional" photographer
